About Centrals

Established 1989 and now Melton’s largest cricket club

The objective of the Melton Centrals Cricket Club is to provide the opportunity for children, youth, and individuals to participate in an organised competition of cricket and to develop sportsmanship and knowledge of cricket.

Melton Centrals Cricket Club is innovative and progressive, retaining high values. We pride ourselves on being a family-oriented club, with players from 5 years old to 50+ participating in our wide range of teams, from our Woolworths Blasters program through to Juniors (Under 12, 13, 15 and 17s)  and six teams of Seniors competing at different levels, including an open age Ladies team.

The Club is an incorporated body, and has a strong constitution that is administered by an equally strong Committee. Our Committee members are all volunteers, and no player is paid any fees.

In 2013 the Clubs home ground installed a five wicket turf pitch..

Woolworths Blasters

We are a Melton Club that conducts a Woolworths Blasters program (formerly Milo Have a Go). The Blasters program is all about fun and being introduced to the game of cricket. Each clinic is built to teach skills, but do so in a fun and enjoyment oriented environment.

Good Sports Accredited

Our Club has attained a Level Three accreditation in the Australian Drug Foundation’s Good Sports program, which is the highest of any Club in the region. We were the first Club in the area to achieve that status. We are also a member of the Melton Sporting Clubs Liquor Licensing Accord and all of our members who serve refreshments are qualified under the Responsible Serving of Alcohol program. Additionally, our members have been trained in the Looking After Our Mates program run by the  Australian Drug Foundation.

Commitment to Health and Fitness

We have members accredited with the Active After School Program, a national program targeting young children and fitness. Our proactive approach to health and fitness for all participants is also backed by our own Health & Safety Policy.

Social Membership

Membership at Melton Centrals needn’t end with your weekly training sessions and games – we are a very socially active club as well, holding many fundraising events for members throughout the season such as presentation nights and various and enjoyable fundraising nights. Our clubrooms and canteen remain open after senior training to allow members to socialise and wind down after training.

Facilities

In 2009 we moved our clubrooms to our present location at Blackwood Drive, where the Club has access to three grounds. Whilst our under 12 teams play exclusively in Melton and Bacchus Marsh, our under 13, 15, 17.5 and senior teams play in Melton as well as the Williamstown, Laverton, Altona, Altona North, Wyndham and Newport areas.

Our clubrooms at this venue offer a canteen; social room, mens’, womens’ and disabled toilets; baby change room; as well as umpire rooms, a medical room and equipment storeroom. Each oval has both an away and home changeroom. Our canteen is open at any time during any home matches for any grade, and during and after senior training on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
