This page is dedicated to the little one percenters, achievements and whatever you can think of, that affects our members. There are no restrictions to this page, except it must be decent. It may be that some one has taken their first wicket, first catch or maybe their first duck. Could be a birthday, anniversary or anything. Send it to News

19 April...Rob Ward has changed his phone number, his new number is 0417 044 419, for you to call and annoy him.

2 November...Scott Macfarlane is definitely in form this year, taking another 8 wickets on Saturday in one innings. Scott has taken 18 wickets in the four games he has played this year. Scott's 8 wickets is not his best though, having taken a 9 for some years back. Well done Scott.

7th October...For all Under 14s and 16s, a pair of size 13 blue/black Nike runners was lost at training last Thursday. If you picked them up, call Belinda on 9747-3174 and make arrangements with her for her to collect them.

3rd October...Well we are off, and Luke Arnett started the injury list, cracking a collarbone in the first game. Being right handed he will know doubt find out how good being ambidextrous is. Up and comer, Andrew Zenonos, had his bowling action challenged in his match, which quickly earned him the nickname "Chucky" by his team mates. Reckon it might stick, that one. Dave McDonald started off with a blinder taking 6/16 off his seven overs in his game, not a bad start to the season.

1st October...Senior teams have been selected and can be found at Round One teams. Welcome to new players, Brendan Parker, Chris Smith, Adam Gabb and Corey Ballantine. Hope you love your time at Centrals, and good luck to you and all the players. Go Centrals.

14th September...Well the move has started to Blackwood Oval. Our under 12's were hard at training tonight at the new location. The pitch has been poured on # 1 oval and the training nets are well under way. Won't be long, and we are off again.

8th September...Finally got the Senior stats up for every player who played Senior Cricket last season for Centrals. Bragging rights for some, excuses for others. Good targets to better this season. They can be seen at Senior Stats 08/09

26 August...Read in local paper that only three teams in Turf this year. Not correct. While some teams have left, some teams have joined the Turf comp. Bad journalism by a misinformed reporter. Turf is all go at this stage. Stay on this site for the real facts.

21 August...What's a smagglerfest? This author has no idea, reckon I'll just have to wait to 12noon on Rego day to find out. Coach Brendan, has added it on his latest website spiel. A smagglerfest????

20 August...Well the pre season has begun for all, and the season proper will be on us before you know it. New Coach Brendan Parker, is working well on the Senior front and our Junior Coaches are lifting the level of our young players abilities.

3rd February... Looking for a job? Chasing a trade in carpentry? If you are interested in an apprenticeship, Adam Hulett will be looking for one in the near future. If you are interested, Call Adam on 0402-274-119. (Filled)

24th January... The MJCA under 16 team in the Keith Mackay Cup, dominated by Melton Centrals players, such as Josh Booth, Jordan Porter, Mitchell Brus, Brendan Hooper, Corey Stalker & Lucas Boyle went on to win the Cup for the MJCA. All our guys put in a fantastic effort, for the maximum result.

4th January...Congratulations to Matt Hayes for making the All Australian Team in the recent open age carnival. Matt played very well and earned his selection. Only two players from this Association were selected, the other being Chris Armstrong from St Andrews. Congratulations to Chris as well.

22nd November...Looks like one our up and comers, Corey Stalker, has been nick named 'Assassin', after cleaning up in the C grade game, on the weekend. Corey ended up with 5/56 in a great bowling effort.

1st November...If have not noticed all ready, the Club now has a coffee machine that makes all sorts of coffee's and chocolate mixes. Not bad either. The Machine was kindly donated by Ducale Coffee in a sponsorship deal arranged by Brett Lumley. Cheapest cappuccino's in town.

19th October...Bit of a shortage of helpers at the under 12's on Friday, but coming to the rescue was Steve Bairstow, who scored, umpired and helped in the canteen as well. Great effort by Steve to show that the team off the field has to work hard like those on the field. Special thanks to Steve.

16th October...Long time Captain of our fifths, Andrew Hayes has handed the captaincy over. Andrew has been a fantastic Captain over the years, and has consistently taken the 5ths into finals. The Club thanks Andrew for his efforts, and hopes he will now enjoy his cricket as a player.

14th October...Trying something different and have added a link to Rob's Message on the front page, in the news item column. Good gossip comes from Rob, who keeps us up to date with all of the Junior stuff. Check it out.

31st August... Did anybody else see that I mucked up on the Senior training times. Originally had it as 10.30am to 12.30am. 14 hours work out for pre season. Tough club. But we have tough players.

31st August...Rego day was a great success as usual, and if you have not registered please do so as soon as possible. Lots of help on the day came from Robert Ward, Kelly Arnett, Judith Ward, Mick Harris and Brett Chatterton. Brett took on the BBQ duties, and coined a new name to what used to be fast food. While no one starved, Brett was complaining that the BBQ would not heat up. He was told that if you turn the gas up it usually heats faster. Gee whizz it worked. Jokes aside, Brett with all the others did a great job on the day.

7th July...Our spies spotted one of our elder statesman on the train to Melbourne yesterday. Rumour is Fatmac was a willing participant to go see Guys and Dolls. Expect a rendition of Big Jule during the season.

29th June...News in is that Josh Evans, the son of Coach, has made it to the Under 19 Squad for Victoria. Proud Dad Jeff, could not wait to let everyone know on this great achievement, and rightfully so. Only the select few can make it to the squad, and we are delighted that Josh is in the elite. Do us proud Josh. Josh is currently training with North Melbourne District side and we wish him well.

12th June... OK I am back from the self appointed slack time, and will be adding stuff as it comes in. Will even try to keep up to date with birthdays etc, however if I miss one, please don't growl. Might pay to remind me instead. E-mail me.

25 February... Congratulations to our Fourths Captain, Steve Wilmot and his wife Christine. A new addition in Delta Jesse who came in at 9lb 2 oz (thats about 4.13 kilos), last Friday 22 Feb. Fortunately the good looks are coming from Mums side, despite Dads protest. Ah, the sleepless nights start again.

21 February... Josh Evans, who has excelled in our First grade, has been invited to try out for the Under 19 Victoria Cricket Squad. A great honour for Josh that Coach and Dad Jeff Evans is surely proud of. We know you will do give it your best Josh. Good Luck.

15 February... Every member at the Club is wishing Wright (lefty) Brookes all the best and a speedy recovery. Lefty is a past member of the Club, that ran the bar/eatery for a few years, and is in Hospital at the moment. Get better pal, and come back and annoy us.

14 February... Brought to our attention that Centrals are one of the few Clubs in this Association that has never had a Player reported in our twenty years as a Club, Junior and Senior. A Proud record, that shows what we are really about.

31 January... Unfortunately not all news can be good, and it is sad to hear that Andrew Zenonos has broken his arm and will not be able to play again this year, and Brandon McNeil has had surgery that has put him out for the season. The Club wishes both the under 14 guys a quick recovery, and hope they can still come to their teams games. They may be out of action, but certainly not out of their team.

20 January... Steve Wilmot the Captain of the C grade side made mention that Mick Smart has faced four balls in the past three games, for a grand total of three blurters. Golden on the first and last one. Can only go up from here Mick.

17th January... No news so far. Very boring.

31st December... Double celebration for Brad Bonnici who will see the New Year in with a birthday celebration. Hazel and Andrew Hayes are also having a dual celebration, as they tied the knot, (a little while ago now), on this day. We all hope Brad, Hazel and Andrew have an excellent celebration.

22nd December... Thanks to Andrew Porter a speed gun was used at our last training session for the year. Results of our budding speedsters, and cause for some discussions can be found at Speed Camera Results

20th December... and not much news happening. There must be something out there. Josh Booth (U/16's) has added to the player profile, so maybe a good time for yourself. Don't be a who me?, be someone who is proud of being a Centrals member.

5th December... Senior-Junior training night went very well, with 31 juniors enjoying a training session with the senior guys. Well done to the senior guys for their efforts and enthusiasm on the night. Thanks must also go to Adrian Kendall for taking the time to come to under 12s training this past Monday and working with one of our under 12s keepers Matt Naudi by giving him some keeping tips. Its been great to see the seniors working with our juniors this week. Lets see more of it.

1st December...Lachlan Hooley and Brandon Arnott both hit their first 50's this season. Well done to these budding cricket stars.

29th November... Mick Harris and Matt Simpson cooked up a storm this day, presenting a meal on selection night. Beef stir fry was on the menu tonight, and a big hit it was. Mick has been coming with different ideas every night (and that is not as easy as it sounds), and has provided our members with more than scrumptious meals. BBQ next selection night, which should give Mick a well deserved night off.

25th November... Hazel Hayes at the fifths as a spectator, decided to sit on the ground to watch the game. Sure enough, about 4 balls later, a cracking cut shot aimed straight at Hazel got her right on the knee. After all the tears were wiped away from the laughing D graders, little sympathy was coming. Hazel hobbled away later on.

25th November... Rumour going around that someone has challenged Adam Hulett to an eating contest. Have not confirmed with the challenger as yet, but will let you know if he follows the challenge.

25th November... Never seen a Mum so nervous as that of Cindy Zenonos. Young son Andrew having his debut batting for the Seniors, went on when the pressure was on. Being the last wicket and still needing 60 for victory, Cindy went thru a packet of smokes, more heartbeats to fill a life time, and there is not much left in the fingernail compartment. But Mum stood proud as her youngster helped the team bring home the points in a gallant stand. A couple of Mums tears (of joy) followed.

23rd November... Tried to sneak past, but Senior player Daniel Martin-Walker turned 18 last Monday. Congrats Dan, won't be long and the roads will be terrorised, just like the batsmen he bowls at.

23rd November... News in is that Anthony Piva has made the Russell Allen squad for Melton. Well done Anthony. Anthony is currently playing in the seniors fifths and doing a great job.

23rd November 2007... Last Saturday Adrian Kendall while keeping in the Thirds, copped one right between the eyes. Had to leave the field as he was bleeding. Ice pack and little sympathy got Adrian all right again, but not after all his team mates reckoned he looked like a Klingon. Tough bloke Adrian, and he'll be back, with other Klingons no doubt.

13th November 2007... Congratulations go our young members who made representive squads for this season. Those to make the squads are Mitchell Shield: Daniel Vasjuta and Mark Jones. Hatch Squad: Lucas Boyle and Tyler Whitehurst. Under 18 Western Spirit: Josh Evans. Under 21 WSUCCA: Matt Hayes, Josh Allen, Heath Fleetwood, Matt Goatley, Michael Cossai and Steve Robertson. Special mention to Matt Hayes for also being named Captain.

11th November 2007... The players from the fifths want to thank Paul Gatty for playing with them in his first game for the Club, and making his total of one run. Everyone else got into double figures in their win. Tough at the legends side! It is said that the legends sledge themselves better than the opposition.

8th November 2007... Matt Farrugia from the under 12 White side, turns 12 today. All at Centrals wish him a great day, with many more to come.

4th November 2007... In only his second game with the Senior Anthony Piva carved up the opposition bowling making a brilliant 183 for his first Century in the Sixths. Anthony did not lose his wicket until 466 runs had been planted on the board. Debutant Ricky McGregor also made a great 74 in a 135 run 5th wicket stand with Anthony. With Josh Roberts watch these guys, as they take the cricket world in front of them.

4th Nov 2007... Lucas Boyle bowled his longest spell ever, putting in 17 overs straight to tie up the free playing batsmen in the weekends 5ths game. Lucas returned his best senior figures of 2/52, in a great display of bowling

4th Nov 2007... Brett Chatterton had to have this week off and decided to go down to the Fifths to help out. Brett is a great clubman and puts in whenever he can. Questions have been asked though, as to how the sausage rolls at the tea break were almost cremated using a pie oven. Brett scores well, and plays well, but cooking? No.

31st Oct 2007 ... Round 3 under 16's was played at the Melton Rec Reserve in what can only be described as VERY WINDY conditions. Player Jordan Porter had a day out with the ball bowling into the wind Taking 6/27 of 7.1 overs his first BAG of wickets.
30th Oct 2007...The Club sends its condolences to Lindsay and Michael Govett in the passing of their father and Grandfather.

25th Oct 2007... The moron that took a swipe at Adam Hulett on Saturday night has been charged by Police. Sporting a shiner, Adam copped a cheap shot at a night club, from a cowardly act.

25th Oct 2007...John Mowlam spent a day in hospital on Wednesday. Not for himself. Young daughter Emily needed to have her arm straightened after breaking it on Tuesday. The Club wishes Emily all the best and a speedy recovery.

22 Oct 2007... Matt Hayes celebrated his 21st birthday last Saturday night, at one of the night clubs. A big turn out proved it to be a great night, with a few sore heads the next day. Congrats to Matt.

17 Oct 2007... In his debut with the legends side Ray Ramsay fielded the ball brilliantly in his first touch then threw the ball like a shot put, receiving some not so nice bagging from his perfect (?) team mates. Ball came in with a bullet arm after that, but the damage was done. We believe Ray had fairy bread for tea that night.

17 Oct 2007... Rob Ward's newsletter to the Junior teams needs a name, and a competition is being held to find a great tag for the informative letter. More info on conditions etc can be found at Competition

14 Oct 2007... Under 16 player Jordan Porter filled in for our fourth side and showed that he has what it takes to make the Senior grade. Jordan batting at number 8, made 42 with 4 boundaries in his debut. Bragging rights at the Porter household lie with Jordan as proud (of Jordan) Dad, Andrew made 2.

11 Oct 2007... New players to our Senior lists are Stuart Hardy, Adrian Kendall, Andrew Wearing, Anthony Cristofaro and Ray Ramsay. Ray is the husband of life member, Jan Ramsay, and goes straight into the legends team. Stuart, whose brother Scott plays in our Thirds, Adrian and Andrew both play their second game this season, while Anthony and Ray will play their debut game for the Club. Welcome aboard guys.

11 Oct 2007... After a nasty work accident, Turf Premiership player Scott Dowling is now resting at home rehabilitating. Scott probably will not play for the rest of the season, and all our wishes are with him for a speedy and full recovery. Players at the Club are looking forward to Scott coming down to the Clubrooms when he feels up to it.
